MUST HAVE EYE MAKEUP BRUSHES AND TOOLS
I don’t know why, but I am really fond of eye makeup . I think, It has the power to instantly change and uplift the looks and personality. Honestly, I feel, Makeup is an art and the right tools and brushes are a total game changer and can make all the difference. Whether it’s getting concealer to blend in, creating a smokey eye, or drawing the perfect wing, using the correct brush or tool is the key.
Here is a list of eye makeup brushes curated after attending quite a few online self-makeup classes by renowned makeup artists.
THE ESSENTIAL BRUSHES
1. FLAT CONCEALER BRUSH
This is a tapered flat brush that lets you place the right amount of undereye concealer only where you need it. After all, one has to hide those hideous dark circles. The fine tip is designed to reach tricky spots like the inner corners of eyes. While concealer brushes should be firm, it is important that the bristles be soft, not scratchy, because of how delicate the skin around your eyes is.
While a bigger flat brush can be used to conceal the under eyes (sigma F65) , the smaller flat concealer brush (sigma F75) can be used to apply concealer on the eyelids to create a more defined cut crease eyeshadow look.
2. BROW BRUSHES
A brush with angled bristles helps deposit just the right amount of gel or powder shadow to define and enhance brows. It can be used to fill and shape the eyebrows, define the lashline and for tightlining. Some popular angled brow brushes are MAC 263 and Sigma E65
3. BROW GROOMING BRUSH
Stiff, flat brushes help quickly groom brows into place for a neat, polished look. Brushing brows is a step people often ignore, but it really makes a difference in your look.
Some brands have launched a 2 in 1 spoolie cum angled brow brush to fill in the brows.
A Brow comb can also be used for grooming the brow hair instead of a spoolie brush.
SHEMEANSBEAUTY PRO TIP: The brow grooming comb can be used as a mascara comb. Use it to comb through the lashes to avoid clumpy looking mascara or what is righlty termed as ‘spider lashes’ . |
4. THE FLUFFY ROUND BRUSH
This full, rounded brush is the perfect multitasker. Use it to apply shadow over the entire lid, the lower lid, or even the crease. It is best to apply the lightest shade with this biggest brush, highest in your crease to create a beautiful transition effect. Popular choices are MAC 224, Sigma E40
5. EYE BLENDER BRUSH
An eye blender brush with long, soft bristles gently blends shadows together for a beautiful finish. It is ideal for sweeping shadow across the lower lid. It is a medium sized brush with a rounded edge and soft, natural bristles. Beveled edges beautifully layer and blend color. Use a little darker color with this medium sized round brush and apply it on the second highest region in your eye area. Because of its light touch, you can also use it for setting concealer with face powder. Blending is the key to create that gorgeous look using shadows, so blend baby blend ! Popular choices are MAC 217, Sigma E25.
6.PENCIL BRUSH
This brush should be used with the darkest eye shadow color to shade the eyelid all the way from inner corner to the outer corner . It is also excellent for blending shadow in the bottom lash line. Popular pencil brush choices are Sigma E30, Sigma E45, MAC 219 .

9. EYE SMUDGE BRUSH
The best tool for creating a smokey eye, this small brush is amazing for layering color on the lower lid and in the crease. It is also small enough to smudge liner.
SOME MORE USEFUL TOOLS
TWEEZERS
There is nothing more frustrating than trying to wield a pair of tweezers that just don’t work. Invest in a good pair that is wide enough for an easy grip and slanted to a fine point, making it easy to pluck even the finest hairs.
EYELASH CURLER
A foolproof way to instantly open your eyes, an eyelash curler extends and curls lashes before you put on mascara. Look for versions that are easy to grip, have cushioned pads, and shape the lashes into a natural-looking curl. Always curl lashes before applying mascara to avoid breaking them.
YOUR FINGERS
Last but not the least, One of the best eye makeup tools you have is your fingers. The warmth of your fingers helps makeup blend more easily into your skin, making corrector and concealer look more natural. And because the skin picks up color more intensely than a brush, your fingers can provide a denser, stronger application of eye shadow color. When you have finished applying your eye makeup with brushes, you can rely on your hands for touch-ups such as blending shadow, correcting liner, and removing stray!
